Aberdeen Based Activpayroll Sets Its Sights Internationally By Opening A Stavanger Office
One of the UK’s leading and award winning payroll companies, Aberdeen based activpayroll, announced today (Wednesday 27th April 2005) that it is opening an office in Norway – its first permanent base outside the north east. Opening the new Stavanger office will build on the company’s recent rapid growth in the UK and capitalise on the growing trade bonds between Aberdeen and Norway.
The new initiative will see an Aberdeen-based activpayroll staff member setting up the Stavanger office. There are immediate plans to employ three Norwegians experienced with the complex domestic payroll processes. The new activpayroll offices are based in central Stavanger at Energy Plaza.
Alison Smith, managing director of activpayroll, says, “Opening offices in Norway marks the first phase of activpayroll’s long term strategy to operate as a global payroll solutions company. The north east of Scotland and Norway share boundaries on one of the most important oil provinces in the world and are important trade partners to each other equally. Many of our clients in the oil and gas industry and related sectors are operational in Norway and the rate of Norwegian and British nationals working in either country is on the rise. For their employers, this brings a challenging payroll scenario, particularly as the Norwegian payroll process is extremely complex. We recognised the need to expand to Norway to be able to offer a thorough service to our clients faced with this situation.”
Alison adds, “Employing local staff will be integral to our success in Norway. It will give clients the appropriate contact and avoid any language differences. And much in the same way that activpayroll has built relationships with the Inland Revenue in the UK, our Norway office will do the same with the tax authorities and unions there.
“We have established activpayroll as a company of excellence, and we are obviously delighted that our business is expanding internationally. We now manage the payroll function of behalf of more than 350 clients, both large and small, and we are looking forward to continue our expansion domestically and internationally.”
Alison, who recently won the Scottish female director of the year award from the Institute of Directors, will also be among the official delegation going to Norway for the Oil and Gas Sector Mission to Kristiansund from May 22nd to 26th, 2005.
